Rising Ranch

"Developing Horse and Human"

Here at Rising Ranch we love to see people and horses getting along and getting together.  We truly value the relationships with our customers and their horses and they become part of the ranch family.  We appreciate these words given by just a few of our ranch family members.

Since I've been taking lessons at Rising Ranch, my riding and training skills have really improved. They have made a big difference in me, my ability, and even my horses. Whether I'm barrel racing, trail riding, or jumping I have tons more confidence!

At Rising Ranch they train horses to be safe while being responsive and flexible. This makes for the best riding of your life. Too often people settle for less. The Lees' technique is completely humane and utterly practical, but applicable to either pleasure riding or the strictest of equine disciplines.

Their student interns exhibit the best qualities of horsemanship. For instance, the college-age Bethany is a perfect example of the excellent results they achieve. Now she passes her knowledge along to others and helps the Lees provide a truly caring atmosphere for animals and people at Rising Ranch.

Clayton and Ragean are definitely making their mark in this field.

Back in the fall of 2005 I purchased a paint mare.  She was four years old and not really broke to ride.  She had very bad ground manners plus an attitude.  You had to really watch her or she would hurt you.  She didn't care if she stepped on you, if you were leading her and she decided to go in another direction she would just go and drag you along.  No respect at all for her handler.  I had to watch her when I would go to pick up her feet, she would try to kick you.  If you touched her wrong she would try to kick you.  I have grown up with horses I know how easy it is to get hurt by one.   At my age I am not as quick as I use to be and I brake easier than I did when I was younger, so I decided I needed to get some help to get her started; I sent her to Clayton for one month.  He worked on her ground manners and getting her to respect her handler.  She came home a completely different horse, her attitude and respect toward people is just great.  I know she will not hurt me on purpose.  Also Clayton rode her some that month.  That was all I needed to get me started on her.  She has been on lots of trail rides these past two years.  If I would have tried to get her started on my own I know I would not have gotten the job done, I probably would have gotten hurt by her.   I like the way Clayton trained her, he was not abusive to her and he doesn't use fear to get the job done.  Plus Clayton teaches you and the horse.  So when you take your horse home you can continue training them the way he was training them.

Dear Clayton and Ragean,

As I was watching Sam ride Holly, I was awed by the way the two of them become one as Sam rides.  The fluidity of their motion is so beautiful to watch that it brought tears to my eyes.  It is hard for people to believe that this horse would go up, high-ho silver style on a regular basis when we first purchased her. I realize that we have you and Clayton to thank for your training and work with both girl and horse. The lessons that you both have taught her are being applied as she trains her new horse.  I just want to thank you for helping her become a wonderful horsewoman through your natural horsemanship training.  I know that she is looking forward to attending Slippery Rock and continuing her training when she moves her horses to Rising Ranch.

Sincerely,
